CHEYENNE, Wyo. – A 28-year old Cheyenne man was arrested and now faces multiple narcotic charges, including Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, according to paperwork filed in Laramie County Circuit Court.
Jiovonne Ayala was arrested by the Cheyenne Police Department on December 18th, 2020.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on December 18th, detectives with the Cheyenne Police Department’s Community Action Team conducted an investigation into the possession of illicit narcotics involving various individuals in an apartment within the city limits of Cheyenne.
No information was provided to what led authorities to pursue an investigation into the residents of this apartment.
Detectives were let into the apartment by one of the residents after knocking on the door, according to court papers. Upon entering the apartment, investigators say they observed drug paraphernalia and a bong containing suspected methamphetamine in plain view.
During their investigation, law enforcement officials report knocking on Ayala’s bedroom door as part of their sweep of the apartment.
“Detectives knocked on Ayala’s door stating the door needed to be opened,” the affidavit stated. “A male inside the room said to wait and detectives heard banging and hustled movement from within the room. The door was forced open and Ayala and another individual were contacted inside of the room.”
Once inside Ayala’s residence, detectives report locating glass methamphetamine pipes and pistol ammunition on the dresser tops of his room.
Ayala was later transported to the Cheyenne Police Department to be interviewed by detectives, according to the affidavit.
Court paperwork reports that during his interview with police, Ayala stated he was a distributor of methamphetamine and that he had multiple forms of illicit narcotics inside of his bedroom.
The affidavit says that authorities applied for a received a Laramie County Circuit Court search warrant for Ayala’s bedroom.
Police allege that a search of the suspect’s bedroom resulted in the seizure of approximately 41.3 grams of suspected methamphetamine, including packaging. They also report uncovering 3.6 grams of suspected heroin, .06 grams of suspected cocaine, and six suspected Xanax tablets.
According to the affidavit, a portion of all suspected narcotics were later pretested and came back with being presumptively positive for methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin.
Jiovonne Ayala made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Monday, December 21st, 2020 to hear the recommended felony charges of Possession With Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine and Possession of Methamphetamine read to him. Ayala was also read misdemeanor counts of Possession of Heroin, Possession of Cocaine, and Possession Of a Controlled Substance in Pill Form read to him during the same proceedings.
