The Laramie Police Department is investigating a string of automobile burglaries, in which investigators say firearms and cash were among the items taken.

Over the weekend, the Laramie PD said in a written statement on Dec. 22, that since last week, Laramie residents have reported at least six auto burglaries.

“It is possible that additional incidents have occurred and not been reported. Taken in the auto burglaries were items of value including outdoor equipment, money, and firearms,” Laramie PD said on social media.

In all the incidents, the vehicles were reportedly left unlocked and valuables were left in plain sight in the cars.

incidents were reported within close proximity of North 9th St & Lewis streets.

“Laramie Police Department reminds people that thefts from cars are a common crime that can often be prevented by simply reducing the opportunity for theft. It is important to lock vehicles when they are not attended,” Laramie PD says. “It is also recommended that valuables be removed from the car or at least put out of sight. By doing these two simple things, you can dramatically reduce the likelihood that you will become a victim of an auto burglary.”
