Cheyenne Man arrested after shots fired

CHEYENNE, Wyo.— On Wednesday, January 6th at approximately 2:30 p.m. Cheyenne Police Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of McFarland Ave.

According to a release from the CPD, officers contacted two subjects who stated the suspect, later identified as Paul Gonzales, 23, of Cheyenne, arrived at the location and started a verbal argument.

“He continued to pull a firearm, fired once into the air, and fled the scene,” police officials stated.

Responding officers were able to locate and apprehend Gonzales within minutes. At around 3:00 p.m., officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop near the 900 block of W Lincolnway where the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Gonzales was transported to the Laramie County Detention Center and booked on reckless endangering and possession of methamphetamine, according to law enforcement.
