Multiple agencies were involved in a vehicle chase that ended in the Wyoming community of Torrington with one arrest.
According to an announcement from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, a trooper attempted to stop a civilian pickup truck at approximately 6:45 pm, April 18, 2021, near milepost 68 of US Highway 85.
“The driver of the Ford failed to stop and fled north on US 85,” troopers said Monday, explaining that they began to chase the vehicle North toward the Wyoming community of Torrington. “The driver increased his speed to over 100 mph in an attempt to evade law enforcement. The Torrington Police Department was notified of the approaching pursuit and successfully deployed spike strips to deflate the tires of the Ford F-150 south of Torrington.”

The suspect driver is alleged to have continued to attempt to flee law enforcement by driving on the rims of the vehicle, coming to a stop in after colliding with the sign of an Arby’s restaurant.
The driver was reportedly taken into custody without further incident.
29-year-old Denver, Colorado resident Willie F. Zanders was taken into custody and recommended for charges of Fleeing to Elude, felony Possession of Cocaine, Driving on a Suspended License, Speeding, and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of a Felony.
The Torrington Police Department and Goshen County Sheriff’s Office reportedly assisted with the incident.
