Cheyenne Police arrest suspect accused of assaulting person following road rage incident


CHEYENNE, Wyo. – An 18-year-old male suspect was arrested by law enforcement following an allegation that he physically attacked another person outside of a fast-food restaurant.

An affidavit of probable cause filed in the matter states that during the evening hours of April 13th, 2021, officers with the Cheyenne Police Department were dispatched to a restaurant on the 2500 block of E. Lincolnway to investigate a report of an assault.

Police officials say that the incident began when the suspect confronted another driver who was on their cell phone while driving.

According to court papers, the suspect, identified as Corban Stensaas followed the other driver in his vehicle. It is alleged that Stensaas attempted to open the other driver’s door at multiple intersections.

The affidavit reveals that the alleged victim eventually pulled their vehicle into the fast-food restaurant while still being reportedly followed by the suspect.

Police allege that Stenaas exited his vehicle and approached the other driver while verbally threatening to assault them. Investigators say that the victim exited their own vehicle when Stenaas began to kick their car.

Court documents allege that is when Stenaas began to physically assault the other driver. Police say that the suspect punched the alleged victim until they fell on the ground.

Steenas is reported to have continued assaulting the other driver while they were on the ground until he was confronted by employees of the fast-food restaurant, according to the affidavit.

Officials with the Cheyenne Police Department report that the other driver later sought medical attention for a possible fracture.

Corban Stenaas made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on April 29th, 2021 to have the felony charge of Aggravated Assault – Serious Bodily Injury read to him.

All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
