A Laramie County man is facing a felony charge after police say that he was reportedly sleeping in a stolen box truck, in the parking lot of a Cheyenne gas station.
Documents released by the Laramie County Circuit Court show that the suspect faces a felony charge of Theft in the incident. He also faces a misdemeanor charge for possession of a controlled substance.
An affidavit filed by the Cheyenne Police Department alleges that they received a report of an individual parked at a gas station near Vandehei and Interstate 25, at approximately 2:30 a.m. October 11. Reporting parties said that the suspect had been parked at the fuel pumps for an hour, but had not exited the vehicle and appeared to be sleeping.
Cheyenne Police Officers arrived on scene and say that they observed a box truck in the parking lot, and made contact with the vehicle’s lone occupant, identified in documents as Trevor S. Robinson.
Police reportedly contacted the registered owner of the box truck who indicated that they were unaware that the truck was not where it was supposed to be. The affidavit says that the truck had been parked near the 4300 block of Ridge Road on October 10, and that nobody was authorized to drive or move the vehicle.
Robinson was arrested and transported to the Laramie County Detention Center. He was charged in Circuit Court with felony Theft, and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in the case to see if the charges will be bound over to Laramie County District Court.
During a recent Circuit Court hearing, bond was set in the case at $10,000 cash-only.
All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
