A Cheyenne woman charged with two felony counts of theft has had her preliminary hearing in the case set for early next month.
According to documents filed in Laramie County Circuit Court, the suspect faces one theft charge from an incident on September 22, the other charge from an incident on April 28.
All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
An affidavit filed by the Cheyenne Police Department alleges that the suspect is accused of taking a passenger car from the parking lot of a motel on the 2500 block of Lincolnway in Cheyenne. The vehicle was reportedly taken during the night of April 27, 2021. Police say that the vehicle was recovered the following day.
Investigators note that the suspect was identified using surveillance footage of the theft, as well as several personal items that were recovered from the vehicle that belonged to the suspect. Those items included an identification card and prescription medication.
Another Cheyenne PD affidavit, filed in Circuit Court, alleges that the suspect stole several items of value from a home where she was employed as a housekeeper.
Police say that items including a digital camera, microphones, and a cellular phone were reported stolen on September 22, by the resident of the home in Cheyenne.
The reporting party told police that they confronted the suspect, who allegedly admitted to the theft and promised to return the items, but did not.
During a phone interview with police, investigators say that the suspect admitted to taking the property but said that she was holding it due to money owed to her from the reporting party.
The suspect, identified in jail records as 32 year old Amana Vallejo, received a cash bond amount in the case of $5,000.
