A Cheyenne Man is facing multiple felony charges across two cases being investigated by two local law enforcement agencies, according to court documents.
In a charge filed on October 13 the suspect, described as a 23 year old male, is accused of felony Theft, in a Laramie County Sheriff’s Office case involving a stolen car. In charges filed on October 14 the suspect faces two counts of felony Property Destruction and a misdemeanor count of Aiding and Abetting Property Destruction, in a case being investigated by the Cheyenne Police Department, dating back as early as February of 2021.
All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office
LCSO deputies say that they contacted the suspect on October 12, just before 10:30 am, after seeing the suspect in the vicinity of a parked vehicle that deputies believe had been stolen.
An affidavit filed by the LCSO reports that suspect was placed into investigative detention and deputies were able to confirm the parked vehicle as being stolen. The suspect is said to have denied having anything to do with the vehicle.
Deputies go on to note that an identification badge and work shirt believed to belong to the suspect, were found in the bed of the stolen truck.
The suspect, identified in court documents as Dakota Skye Pratt, was arrested and transported to the Laramie County detention facility. He made his Initial Appearance in the case on October 13, where court officials say his bond was set at $4,000.
On October 14, Pratt was charged in another case, stemming from a Cheyenne Police Department investigation dating back to February 2021.
In that case Pratt is accused of felony Property destruction from incidents in February and May of 2021. In both instances he is accused of damaging vehicles, in one instance the vehicle was property of a local daycare.
In an affidavit from the Cheyenne PD officers say that they contacted Pratt during an investigation into the theft of several catalytic converters from around the Cheyenne area. Police say that Pratt’s name had come up multiple times during the investigation, and that Pratt is believed to have sold multiple catalytic converters to a local salvage yard.
Police also describe surveillance video showing Pratt’s truck parked at a parking lot near the 4500 block of Western Way, where a catalytic converter had been removed from a parked vehicle on May 16.
Pratt denied any knowledge of the catalytic converter thefts, when interviewed by police, the affidavit says. Current charges against Pratt do not include theft of catalytic converters in either the May nor February incidents. The charges only cite damage to vehicles in each case.
A $4,000 bond was handed down in the Property Destruction case, and was set to run concurrent with Pratt’s other bond. He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing in both cases later this week where it will be decided if the charges will be bound over to Laramie County District Court.
