An Illinois man was arrested after multiple pounds of suspected methamphetamine and marijuana were found in his vehicle, during a Wyoming Highway Patrol stop on October 28.
Troopers with the WHP say that at approximately 3:50 p.m. they observed a passenger vehicle commit several alleged lane violations and an unsafe exit from a private drive. Contact was made with the occupants of the vehicle and the driver was identified by an Illinois driver’s license. The driver said that they were traveling from San Francisco, California to Illinois to attend to a death in the family.
According to an affidavit filed by the WHP in Laramie County Circuit Court the driver admitted to troopers that he had a small amount of marijuana in a bag, in the trunk of the vehicle.
“A probable cause search within the trunk of the passenger car revealed a large black duffel bag,” troopers write in the affidavit. Reports say that approximately 28 pounds of suspected marijuana was found in the duffel, along with 19.5 pounds of suspected methamphetamine.
Troopers say that the suspect, identified in documents as 47 year old Chicago Resident Frank Scott, said that the substances in the vehicle belonged to him, and reportedly admitted that he picked up the substances in California and was taking them to an individual in Chicago.
Scott faces felony charges of Possession of Meth With Intent to Deliver, Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Deliver, Possession of Methamphetamine in a Felony Weight, Possession of Marijuana in a Felony Weight.
Scott was given a cash bond amount of $10,000 and is expected to make a Preliminary hearing this week to see if the charges will be bound over to Laramie County District Court.
