A 22 year old Cheyenne Woman is facing a felony charge after it was alleged that she brandished a firearm during an altercation and threw knives at a victim.

An affidavit filed in Laramie County Circuit Court says that Cheyenne Police Department officers were dispatched to a private residence; at approximately 9:03 a.m. Oct. 31, 2021; for a reported incident involving a firearm. The reporting party told officers that a suspect, known to them, had entered the residence and was banging on the door of the bedroom where the reporting party and another person had been sleeping.

It was alleged that the suspect gained entry into the room and a physical altercation occurred between the suspect and the reporting party. The suspect was accused of throwing several objects at them and striking them several times.

The resident also claimed that the suspect attacked the other occupant of the room, at one point throwing the victim into a bathtub and throwing a hammer at them.

The incident continued into the kitchen of the home, and while fighting, the reporting party said that the suspect grabbed multiple knives and threw them at the reporting party.

Officers note that the reporting party had a two-inch laceration on their leg, where a knife had reportedly struck them.

The suspect reportedly left the scene and then returned to the home with a handgun, described in the affidavit as a Glock, and brandished the gun inside the home.

The affidavit goes on to say that the suspect left the property in a vehicle, but had attempted to block one of the victims from leaving the home before ultimately departing the scene.

The suspect, identified in records as Jailene Romero, was contacted by Cheyenne officers after her vehicle was observed on the 2300 block of Dell Range Boulevard.

The suspect was transported to the Laramie County Jail without further incident.

She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing to see if the charges against her will be bound over to District Court. At a November 1 Initial Appearance, Romero was charged with felony Aggravated Assault and misdemeanor charges of Battery and Domestic Battery.

Her bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety.

All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
