A 57-year-old Cheyenne man is facing felony charges in a case that alleges the man attacked another individual by stabbing at them with a perforated pole.

The suspect in the case was charged during a hearing on October 29 with Aggravated Assault and Battery and Burglary. Both charges are felonies.

In addition, the suspect faces a charge of being a Habitual Criminal after it was alleged that he had previously been convicted twice for Aggravated Assault in 1997 and 2013. Both convictions were in Laramie County.

Being a habitual criminal with two or more previous felonies carries a potential penalty of 10-50 years imprisonment. Both Burglary and Aggravated Assault each carry potential penalties of up to 10 years incarceration, a fine of up to $10,000 or both.

An affidavit filed in Laramie County Circuit Court says that a call was made to emergency dispatch reporting an assault near the 3400 block of Farthing and Archies Roads near Cheyenne.

Laramie County Sheriff’s deputies report responding to the scene, after the call, just before 11:30 am on October 28. A victim in the case alleged that the suspect was attempting to gain entrance into an occupied garage on private property.

“[The vitctim] told me he was sleeping in his bedroom which was located in the garage on the aforementioned property,” LCSO deputies write in the affidavit. “[The victim said his bedroom window was broken in by a large square pole with holes in it by [the suspect.]”

During this exchange, the victim claimed that the suspect screamed “I’m going to kill you.”

The victim indicated to investigators that they stood up on the bed in an effort to get away, and was “stabbed” in the leg causing an abrasion and bleeding.

The victim said that the suspect was known to them, and had just been kicked out of the residence the previous week.

The suspect, identified in court documents as Mark Romain Dunn, was contacted and placed into custody by arriving deputies, a short distance away from the residence.

All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
