A Glenrock man has been taken into custody and charged in Laramie County, after he was accused of kidnapping a victim in Cheyenne and driving the victim to another county.
The 26 year old male suspect in the case was taken into custody at the Laramie County Detention Center, in Cheyenne, at approximately 8:00 pm November 5. During a subsequent Initial Appearance charges were read against him including felony Kidnapping and misdemeanor Domestic Battery.
The Kidnapping charge filed in Laramie County Circuit Court specifically notes a voluntarily release of the victim.
An affidavit filed by the Cheyenne Police Department in the case says that the suspect is accused of contacting the victim during the early morning hours of October 23. The suspect reported some emotional distress to the victim and met with the victim at a parking lot on the 400 block of Crow Road.
The victim told police that they voluntarily got in a vehicle with the suspect, but expected to stay in the parking lot. However, it is alleged that, once the victim was in the vehicle, the suspect began driving. The victim says that they told the suspect they could not leave town and that the suspect responded that they would be going along “no matter what.”
The suspect drove the victim approximately 155 miles, and across multiple county borders, ultimately arriving in Glenrock. During the drive the victim reported a physical altercation between they and the suspect. It is alleged that the suspect struck the victim multiple times and took the victim’s phone. At one point it was alleged that, while struggling, the suspect bit the victim.
It was reported that the pair arrived in Glenrock at approximately 3:30 a.m. October 23. When there it was reported that the victim convinced the suspect to return them to Cheyenne. The victim was allegedly dropped off near where they had been taken.
The suspect, identified in court documents as Mark A. Combs, was given a $1,000 bond amount and is scheduled to make a preliminary hearing next week to see if the charges against him will be bound over to District Court.
