A recent arrest in Laramie County by they Wyoming Highway Patrol came with the seizure of felony amounts of suspected Fentanyl and methamphetamine. Court documents allege that a small amount of suspected cocaine was also recovered.
An affidavit filed in Laramie County Circuit Court says the suspected contraband was found during a search of a private vehicle on I-25, during the evening hours of November 9. Troopers with the WHP write in the affidavit that they were on patrol approximately 1 mile north of the the Wyoming and Colorado border when they observed a vehicle with Wyoming registration traveling an estimated 86 mph in a posted 75 mph zone.
Troopers say that a stop was initiated on the vehicle and contact was made with the suspect, who reportedly originally gave troopers a false identity. The affidavit goes on to note that a juvenile was present in the vehicle at the time of the stop.
During the course of the investigation, officials say that a WHP K-9 was deployed and reportedly indicated the presence of possible controlled substances in the vehicle. A subsequent search is said to have yielded an estimated 110.7 grams of suspected Fentanyl pills, 64.7 grams of methamphetamine, and .9 grams of cocaine.
The affidavit says that the suspect; identified as Cheyenne’s Erick Orozco-Renova, age 26; had two active warrants out of Laramie County for his arrest. One on a bond revocation and one alleged charge of Failure to Appear.
“During an interview, Orozco-Renova admitted to purchasing the blue pills he identified as Fentanyl pills,” WHP troopers write in the affidavit. “And also admitted to purchasing the suspected methamphetamine.”
During a November 12 hearing Orozoco-Renova was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine With Intent to Deliver, Possession of Fentanyl, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Fentanyl With Intent to Deliver, and Child Endangerment- all described as felonies in Circuit Court documents.
The suspect also faces misdemeanors including Possession of Cocaine, Interference, and Failure to Wear Seatbelt.
Bond in the case was also set at the November 12th hearing. Circuit Court officials report that the bond amount was set at $100,000.
Orozoco-Renova has been scheduled for a preliminary hearing in the case to see if the charges against him will be bound over to Laramie County District Court. All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
