The Cheyenne Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect following a chase on Monday Morning.

According to a Cheyenne PD statement, officers were dispatched to Converse Avenue and East 10th Street, on November 22, for a report of a stolen vehicle in the area.

Responding officers say they observed the suspect vehicle, that had been reported stolen from a location in Laramie County on Sunday, exiting an alleyway in the area.

“As officers attempted to make a traffic stop, the driver of the Toyota fled at a high rate of speed, initiating a pursuit,” Cheyenne PD says. “The driver, later identified as Anthony Gello, 35, of Cheyenne, proceeded to drive recklessly and at times, into oncoming traffic.”

Gello reportedly crashed the Toyota near the 1200 block of East 7th Street, striking two parked vehicles, and fled from officers on foot. He was ultimately located and taken into police custody. He was booked into the Laramie County Jail on recommended felony charges of eluding, stolen motor vehicle, reckless driving, and driving under suspension.

No injuries were reported.

All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office. Information is provided by the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office
