CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A warrant for second-degree murder has been issued for a man who Laramie County Sheriff’s Office investigators believe shot and killed a 37-year-old man on Sunday, Sept. 4.
The suspect is identified as Rodrigo Vigner Turcios-Romero, aka Yigner Rodrigo Turcios-Romero, from Greeley, Colorado. Investigators believe Turcios-Romero may have fled back to Colorado.
Deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of CR-161 at about 1:52 p.m. Sunday for a reported assault with a gun, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Deputies found that the 37-year-old male victim had been shot and the suspect had fled the scene. The victim was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, where he later passed away.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the release states.
Detectives interviewed several witnesses and identified Turcios-Romero as the suspect.
“Detectives have been in contact with authorities in Colorado and are actively pursuing leads to locate the suspect,” the release states. “Turcios-Romero should be considered armed and dangerous. He may have attempted to alter his appearance by cutting his hair.”
The sheriff’s office may release more details as the investigation progresses.
