CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Judge Campbell saw Wyoming State Trooper Gabriel Testerman for his arraignment in the Laramie County District Court today, Sept. 19.
During this arraignment, Testerman put in a plea of not guilty, and a jury trial has been set for Jan. 10, 2023. Testerman appeared before Magistrate West in Laramie County Circuit Court on Aug. 31 to hear three counts of inflicting sexual intrusion on a victim.
Along with the matter of his arraignment, there was also the matter of whether or not specific documents, primarily the affidavit of probable cause, would remain sealed to the public.
Testerman’s attorney, Devon Petersen, brought forward several reasons as to why these documents should remain sealed. These included the issue of finding jury members for the trial, fearing that if further information on the case were to be made public, then they would not be able to find jury members who could be unbiased.
Judge Campbell approved of sealing the affidavit, stating that he wishes that the names of the victims be protected. He also stated that the alleged conduct of a law enforcement officer should not be put out in the public at this time.
