Cheyenne police: Person of interest in Monday shooting near mall in custody

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — An 18-year-old Cheyenne man named as a person of interest in a Monday evening shooting near Frontier Mall is in custody, Cheyenne police said at 8:45 p.m.

Cody Nicholson was considered armed and dangerous before police took him into custody. Details about the arrest were not immediately available.

“Officers do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the community,” the department said in its announcement.

The department’s public information officer, Alex Farkas, confirmed to Cap City News that the shooting did not take place in the mall, but in the general area of it at 1400 Dell Range Blvd.

Farkas did not say whether anyone was hurt in the shooting, which was first reported by police at 6:55 p.m.
