Torrington inmate dies while serving life in prison for murder

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Corrections has announced that an inmate at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution in Torrington passed away while spending life in prison.

Phillip Nelson Taylor died today, Jan. 11, while serving life in prison for first-degree murder. He was convicted in the First Judicial District Court in Cheyenne by Judge Johnson on Sept. 25, 1981.

Taylor was born on Jan. 19, 1951, in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Per WDOC protocol, an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. No personal health information will be released.
