CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A 50-year-old transient man suspected of punching a female Cheyenne police officer in the shoulder is facing two felony charges.
David Bret Christensen was arrested at 6:40 p.m. Monday, July 10 after police say he led them on a foot chase that ended when he turned and punched the officer.
A booking sheet states police were called to the 2000 block of East Lincolnway for a welfare check on Christensen. Police say he ran away and refused to stop when ordered to do so. At some point during the chase, Christensen reportedly turned on the female officer chasing him and swung at her twice. One of the punches connected in the left shoulder, causing minor injury.
Christensen was caught during the chase, and police believed they smelled alcohol on him. They also reported that Christensen exhibited slurred speech and poor balance.
He was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center.
