CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Here is a brief summary of notable crimes in and around Cheyenne, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Cheyenne Police Department and the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office.
Shoplifting, Livingston Avenue, Sept. 21, CPD
A 26-year-old Cheyenne man is charged with disturbing peace and property and shoplifting over $300 after police were called to Walmart at 2:58 p.m. Before arriving, the officer was told the man was trespassed from the store but he was still there. The responding officer detained him because he had walked away from another officer. The store’s loss prevention officer told police the man loaded a cart full of items totaling $447.65. Walmart employees stopped the man as he attempted to walk out of the store through the Garden Center with the cart. The man was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center.
Public Intoxication, Deming Drive, Sept. 21, CPD
Police have charged a 48-year-old Cheyenne man with misdemeanor counts of public intoxication, open container, disturbing peace and property and refusing to obey. An officer responded to West 7th Street and Deming Drive at 1:03 p.m. for a report of a drunk man in the middle of the road. The responding officer reported seeing the man standing in the middle of the intersection blocking traffic. He was stumbling in the road and “appeared to be challenging vehicles to hit him,” the report states. The man tried to walk away from the officer when the officer approached, then opened a partially full bottle of vodka and began drinking. The officer removed the bottle from his hand and arrested him. The man was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center.
