CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Cheyenne, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Cheyenne Police Department, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Disturbance and Public Intoxication, Near CRMC, Jan. 3, CPD

At approximately 5:26 p.m., an officer responded to a disturbance call at a location near the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Upon arrival, the officer, along with Deputy Funari and CRMC staff, dealt with a male individual causing a disturbance, according to booking sheets.

The individual, who had initially requested medical assistance and was transported to CRMC by his wife, became belligerent upon arrival. He refused to comply with hospital staff, was shouting and expressed a desire to leave the facility. The officer observed signs of intoxication, such as red, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.

The individual was informed that he was in a safe place and should cooperate with staff, and that leaving the hospital could result in an arrest for public intoxication.

Despite these warnings, the individual attempted to leave the hospital. The officer and Deputy Funari, along with CRMC security who wanted the individual trespassed from the premises, followed him. When asked to comply with arrest procedures, the individual resisted, leading to a takedown by the officers and CRMC staff, according to the report.

After a struggle, the individual was handcuffed and subsequently placed into a WRAP restraint device due to continued non-cooperation. The individual was then transported to the Laramie County Detention Facility without further incident, and he was directly placed in a cell.

DUI and Vehicle Check, Interstate 25 near Milepost 5.5, Jan. 3, WHP

Around 11:16 p.m., a sergeant from the Wyoming Highway Patrol conducted a vehicle check near milepost 5.5 on Interstate 25. The officer found a blue minivan parked on the shoulder with the male driver asleep at the wheel, the vehicle still in drive and the driver’s foot on the brake, according to booking sheets.

Upon waking the driver, the officer observed signs of intoxication, including a distant gaze, slow movements and difficulty in operating the vehicle’s window. An open, empty bottle of alcohol was spotted on the floorboard, and a strong odor of alcohol was present in the vehicle.

After identifying the driver with his Colorado license, the officer asked him to exit the vehicle and noticed his unsteady gait. The driver admitted to consuming alcohol and agreed to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. He displayed sufficient clues of impairment but chose to discontinue the tests, according to the report.

The driver consented to a breath test after being read the Wyoming Implied Consent Advisement. He was transported to the Cheyenne Police Department for the test, which revealed blood alcohol concentrations of .19% and .2085%.

Subsequently, the driver was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center without further incident.
