CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Cheyenne, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Cheyenne Police Department, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
Public Intoxication, Near Evans and E. 5th St., Jan. 4, CPD
In the early hours of Jan. 4, around 2:56 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the vicinity of Evans and East 5th Street in response to reports of a suspicious person attempting to enter vehicles. Upon searching the area, the officer encountered the suspect sitting in a parked vehicle.
The suspect displayed signs of intoxication, such as slurred speech, poor balance, and emotional behavior according to booking sheets. She reported having been drinking at a location near East 5th Street and being ousted by a family member. They mentioned wandering down an alley for a few blocks before returning and deciding to sleep in the car, admitting to consuming 5 to 6 shots of liquor.
Subsequently, the suspect was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Laramie County Detention Center for booking where they were served with an outstanding municipal summons.
DUI and Traffic Accident, 100 block of Creek St., Jan. 4 CPD
On Jan 4 at 6:02 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the area near the 100 block of Creek Street in response to a report of a traffic accident without injuries. Upon arrival, the officer joined Officer Penhale, who was already interacting with the driver involved in the accident.
The driver had failed to maintain her lane, resulting in a collision with two parked vehicles. The officer noted the smell of alcohol on the driver’s breath. Subsequent Standardized Field Sobriety Tests indicated signs of impairment according to booking sheets. The driver admitted to having shooters in the vehicle and consuming hydrocodone and Ambien.
The driver was taken to the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for jail clearance and a consensual blood draw. Following clearance and the blood draw, the driver was taken to the Laramie County Jail without further incidents.
Theft and Warrant Arrest, Near East Allison Road, Jan. 4, LCSO
On Jan 4 at around 12:05 p.m., deputies from the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident near the 700 block of East Allison Road. Deputy Wilson had located a white truck at the address, which was connected to a theft of approximately $295.80 from a local retail store.
The suspect, previously identified by Deputy Martinez, was known to have an active arrest warrant. The suspect was located and arrested at the location. A dispatch check confirmed the suspect had a District Failure to Comply warrant for not reporting to treatment on Nov. 8.
The suspect was taken to the Laramie County Jail without any complications. Additionally, Deputy Wilson issued the suspect a citation for the theft incident.
