CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Cheyenne, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Cheyenne Police Department, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Public Intoxication, Railroad Tracks Area, Jan. 6, CPD

Around 11:42 p.m., officers were dispatched to the railroad tracks area in response to a trespassing report. They found a male lying on the sidewalk by the tracks, yelling. Despite attempts to communicate, the male grabbed his belongings and tried to walk away, according to booking sheets.

After failing to comply with orders to stop, he was apprehended and handcuffed. Identified as heavily intoxicated, with poor balance and slurred speech, he was arrested for public intoxication and disturbance of peace and property and transported to the detention center.

Domestic Battery and Drug Possession, Ridge and East Lincolnway Area, Jan. 6, CPD

Around 5:09 p.m., officers responded to a physical domestic incident. A witness reported seeing a male hitting a female passenger in a truck at a gas station. The suspect was also observed attempting to obscure his license plate, according to witness statements made to police.

At the traffic stop, the female victim denied any violence, despite visible injuries. The suspect, found with methamphetamine, was arrested for domestic battery and drug possession and booked into the detention center.

Eluding and Reckless Driving, Deming and West 9th Street Area, Jan. 6, CPD

At approximately 9:58 a.m., an officer observed a silver SUV speeding. The vehicle attempted to evade the officer, driving erratically through traffic and parking lots.

Upon stopping at a Home Depot parking lot, the female driver claimed she was hearing impaired. She was arrested for eluding and reckless driving and taken to the detention center.

DUI, Ridge Road and East Lincolnway Area, Jan. 6, CPD

At about 2:47 a.m., an officer observed a gray SUV without headlights making improper turns and showing erratic lane travel. The driver displayed signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking alcohol.

Field sobriety tests indicated impairment, but she refused a portable breath test. She was arrested for DUI and taken to the medical center for a blood draw, followed by booking at the detention center for DUI rendering one incapable of safely driving.
