CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A Cheyenne man was arrested late Wednesday night after he allegedly threatened a police officer with a baseball bat during a reported street fight.
Cheyenne Police Officer Tretter responded to a call at the intersection of East 5th Street and Van Lennon Avenue around 11:15 p.m., according to the police report. Upon arrival, Tretter encountered Ronald Andrew Romero Sr., 45, wielding a baseball bat.
Romero refused to comply with verbal orders and stated he was going to kill Officer Tretter and other officers, according to booking sheets. Facing the threat, Tretter drew his service pistol and continued issuing commands.
Romero was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer, a felony. No injuries were reported.
After his arrest, Romero was medically cleared at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and then taken to Laramie County Detention Center.
