CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Around 5 p.m. May 13, a deputy with the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office served Michael English, 48, with an order of protection on Seymour Avenue. Shortly after, the deputy attempted to arrest English on an arrest warrant for the strangulation of a household member. English responded by placing a stranglehold on the deputy, leading to a struggle according to booking sheets.
The deputy managed to overpower English and arrest him. Consequently, English was booked not only on the original warrant for strangulation but also on a new charge of felony assault on a peace officer by strangulation.
The deputy was treated at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and later released. Authorities emphasized that the suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
