Laramie County Crime Clips (5/31/24–6/6/24)

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Cheyenne, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Cheyenne Police Department, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office and the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Names for misdemeanor citations have been removed.

Multiple Violations, Central Avenue and East Lincolnway, May 31, CPD

At around 3:31 p.m., Cheyenne police arrested a 21-year-old Denver man at the intersection of Central Avenue and East Lincolnway for multiple violations following a traffic accident.

Officer Tompkins arrived at the scene and contacted the driver, who admitted to running a red light and colliding with another vehicle. The driver also admitted to attempting to leave the scene and was found in possession of a THC pen. Further checks revealed he had no insurance, no registration and a suspended driver’s license, for which he had been cited twice before, according to booking sheets.

The driver was arrested and taken to CRMC for a jail clearance before being booked into the Laramie County Detention Center. He faces charges including driving with a suspended license, failing to stop at an accident causing property damage, no liability insurance, no registration, failing to obey a traffic signal and possession of marijuana.

Resisting Arrest and Fighting, West Lincolnway, May 31, CPD

At around 2:43 a.m., Cheyenne police arrested a 40-year-old woman at a location on West Lincolnway following a physical disturbance.

Officer Keslar arrived at the scene and observed the woman resisting Officer McClaskey, who was attempting to arrest her. Despite being placed in handcuffs, she continued to fight and resist. She was eventually restrained using a WRAP device.

Staff at the location reported that the woman had been pushing and grabbing them and refused to stop when instructed, according to booking sheets.

The woman was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center and booked on charges of fighting and resisting arrest.

Public Intoxication, West 17th Street, June 4, CPD

At around 9:41 p.m., Cheyenne police arrested a 33-year-old man for public intoxication near West 17th Street.

Officer Fuller responded to a call about an intoxicated person and identified the suspect through previous contacts. The man exhibited signs of intoxication, including an odor of alcohol, slurred speech and unsteady balance. He admitted to having been drinking, according to booking sheets.

Officer Fuller placed the man in handcuffs, ensuring they were properly secured and double-locked. The man was then taken to the Laramie County Detention Center and booked for public intoxication.

Drug Possession, I-25 Northbound, June 4, WHP

At around 8:10 p.m., the Wyoming Highway Patrol arrested a 52-year-old woman for drug possession during a traffic stop on Interstate 25 Northbound.

Trooper Pushcar observed a tan passenger car speeding at 70 mph in a 65 mph zone. Upon stopping the vehicle, a probable cause search revealed small baggies of suspected marijuana, methamphetamine and fentanyl pills. The female passenger admitted ownership of the controlled substances, according to booking sheets.

The woman was arrested, handcuffed and taken to Laramie County Detention Center by Trooper Kelley. She was booked without incident and cited for drug possession and not wearing a seatbelt.

Criminal Trespass, South Greeley Highway, June 4, LCSO

At around 3:30 p.m., Laramie County Sheriff deputies arrested a 61-year-old woman for criminal trespass and interference with a peace officer at a motel on South Greeley Highway.

Deputy Kidd responded to a behavioral problem and found the woman in the parking lot. The motel manager had asked her to leave after she disturbed other guests. When instructed to vacate, she refused and attempted to close the door on Deputy Wright.

As deputies escorted her out, she tried to kick Deputy Harrison and a paramedic. She was assessed for a minor injury on her right forearm, placed in handcuffs and taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for clearance. She was then booked into Laramie County Detention Center.

DUI Arrest, Storey Boulevard, June 5, CPD

At around 3:14 a.m., Cheyenne Police arrested a 23-year-old man for DUI, speeding and no proof of liability insurance at the intersection of Storey Boulevard and Converse Avenue.

Officer Davis observed a white Jeep SUV traveling at 55 mph in a 40 mph zone. During the traffic stop, the driver admitted he did not have valid insurance. Officer Davis noted the driver’s breath smelled of alcohol and his eyes were red and bloodshot. Field sobriety tests indicated impairment, according to booking sheets.

The driver was arrested and taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for a blood draw. Afterward, he was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center. His vehicle was towed by Doug’s Towing.
