Laramie County Crime Clips (6/21/24–6/24/24)

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Cheyenne, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Cheyenne Police Department, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office and the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Names for misdemeanor citations have been removed.

Public Intoxication, West Lincolnway, June 22, CPD

A 21-year-old man who informed Cheyenne police officers that he had the freedom of speech is charged with public intoxication.

A booking sheet states officers were called to the 200 block of West Lincolnway at 2:02 a.m. for subjects verbally fighting. An arriving officer told the subjects to separate, and one left without further incident.

The 21-year-old man was told to leave and to stop fighting, at which time he told officers he had the freedom of speech. Officers smelled alcohol on his breath and noticed bloodshot and watery eyes. They took him into custody and brought him to the Laramie County Detention Center.

Speeding and Drug Possession, Hutchins Drive, June 21, LCSO

A 50-year-old Cheyenne woman is charged with speeding, marijuana possession and methamphetamine possession after a deputy stopped her for driving 55 mph on Christenson Road, where the speed limit is 25 mph.

The deputy reported smelling marijuana and seeing a methamphetamine pipe tucked in her bra. She was taken into custody and her vehicle was searched. A booking sheet states deputies found misdemeanor amounts of marijuana and methamphetamine.

She was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center.

Shoplifting, Dell Range Boulevard, June 21, CPD

Police are charging a 35-year-old Cheyenne man with giving a false identity and shoplifting after responding to the 2000 block of Dell Range Boulevard for a report of stolen chicken.

Police were dispatched at 7:34 a.m. and contacted the man, who said he took a container of chicken costing $9.97 with no intentions of paying, a booking sheet states. The man provided officers a false date of birth and state identification when asked to ID himself.

Once the man’s correct identity was learned, police arrested him and took him to the Laramie County Detention Center.

Using a Controlled Substance, Interstate 25, June 21, WHP

A 31-year-old Fort Collins, Colorado, man is now charged with using a controlled substance and possessing less than 3 grams of a controlled substance after troopers were called to a report of a vehicle sticking out of the median into the left-hand lanes of Interstate 25 near mile marker 42.

The trooper, who arrived around 11:10 p.m., reported that the vehicle had been there since 8:30 p.m. Making contact with the driver, the trooper noticed several signs of inebriation, including bloodshot eyes, aggravated movements and speech as though the man were out of breath, a booking sheet states.

The man said his vehicle was out of gas and his mother was going to bring him fuel. When asked why he hadn’t contacted anyone prior to the trooper’s arrival, the man said his phone needed to charge.

The man was asked to step out of the vehicle, but he wouldn’t. The trooper detained him and called for a K-9 officer, which alerted to the presence of drugs. Investigating, the trooper reportedly found white powder all over the floor below the driver’s seat and on the center console and passenger seat. The powder was suspected methamphetamine. Several pills also were collected, the booking sheet states.

After conducting roadside sobriety tests, the man was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center.
