CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A 59-year-old man is charged with felony blackmail and misdemeanor interference with an officer after Cheyenne police were called to a domestic disturbance at 8:51 p.m. June 21.

Responding to the 1600 block of Linden Court, police said they made contact with Philip Edward Morgans in the backyard while he was holding a rubber mallet. When he entered the residence, he was told to drop the mallet and he complied, a booking sheet states.

Morgans was ordered to the ground, and although he initially refused several times, he did eventually comply, an officer reported. He was taken into custody and placed in the back of a patrol vehicle.

The reporting party told police Morgans had been hitting the two doors to her bedroom, which she had locked herself in because of his behavior, the booking sheet states. Police were told Morgans was yelling that she either needed to leave the property or sleep with him.

Police took Morgans to the Laramie County Detention Center.
