Breach of Peace, Vandehei Avenue, July 5, CPD

A 22-year-old Colorado Springs woman accused of throwing rocks at someone is facing three misdemeanor charges of breach of peace, interference with a peace officer with injury and interference with a peace officer without injury.

A booking sheet states police were dispatched at 6:23 p.m. to the 800 block of Dogwood Drive for a report that the woman was throwing rocks from the outer edge of a driveway. A responding officer reported smelling alcohol on her breath while speaking with her. When asked about throwing rocks, the woman said she was throwing them at her own car.

She refused to identify herself and told officers she was trying to get her phone out of the car.

When an officer tried to take her into custody, she resisted and grabbed onto the bed of a nearby pickup. The officer warned the woman that they were unsure if she was reaching for a weapon in the back of the truck, after which she reached further in and grasped down onto the bed side. The officer struck her in the jaw and ear, causing her to release her grip, the booking sheet states.

After resisting by refusing to place her arms behind her back, the officer applied more pressure and she relented.

The officer reported feeling a pinching pain in the back of the neck followed by throbbing.

The woman was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center.

Shoplifting and Drug Possession, Fleischli Parkway, July 5, CPD

Police are charging a 30-year-old man with interference with a peace officer without injury, possession of a powdery substance and shoplifting after responding to the 1700 block of Fleischli Parkway for a reported theft.

Police said the man ran from the officer at the scene, tossing a drill he had taken while running. Moments later, police found him in a ditch hiding. He was taken into custody.

Police believe he used a pipe earlier in the day for fentanyl.
