MIRROR LAKE, Wyo. — Following the autopsy of an unidentified body found recently at the Mirror Lake Recreational area, the case is now being treated as a homicide investigation, according to an Albany County Sheriff’s Office press release.

The person, whom the Albany County Sheriff’s Office only refers to as a “John Doe” out of respect, was an elderly male found wrapped in a tarp. However, the department reports that there were no identifiable markings on his body that could help in determining his identity. Looking ahead, the ACSO will begin the process of analyzing fingerprints, dental records, DNA evidence and more to match the deceased to a missing persons report.

The ACSO stated in the release that information is limited right now due to the sensitive nature of the investigation and evidence that points to foul play. The office added, however, that more information will be provided as it becomes available.

Anyone with information pertaining to the case is asked to call the Albany County non-emergency dispatch line at 307-721-2526 and ask to talk to a sheriff’s office detective.
