Torrington man arrested after threatening with machete, toy firearm

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office arrested 38-year-old Johnn Thomas Woyak on July 9 for assault with a deadly weapon. Officers responded to an altercation on the 700 block of West Prosser Road, according to police booking sheets.

During the incident, Woyak allegedly produced a machete and pointed it at a male victim. Afterward, he placed the machete in his vehicle and produced a toy firearm, threatening to use it. Woyak then fled the scene in a maroon Subaru hatchback.

Witnesses provided information that helped officers locate the vehicle on Artesian Road. There, Woyak said he owned a machete and toy gun, according to booking sheets. Deputy Wright, who made the arrest, gathered both items for evidence.

Woyak was cooperative during the arrest, which took place at 8:22 p.m. He was not injured. The possible charge listed against him is aggravated assault with injury using a deadly weapon. No injuries were recorded in the booking sheet.
