CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A 47-year-old Broomfield, Colorado, man is facing a felony charge of aggravated assault with a weapon after he said he pointed his gun at another driver who struck his vehicle out of fear the other driver would leave the scene.

Cheyenne police said they found Nathan Higgs at 12:30 a.m. in the east parking lot of the Cheyenne Municipal Pool in Lions Park. Higgs was inside his Cadillac SUV, and he had parked to wait for officers to arrive. Higgs reported to police that he had a handgun in the vehicle, a booking sheet states.

Officers were told Higgs was leaving the parking lot adjacent to the Putt Hutt in Lions Park, an area used for concert parking during Cheyenne Frontier Days, when he allowed three cars to go in front of him. Higgs said a Ford F-150 pickup then proceeded to go. Higgs’s window was down, allowing him to tell the pickup driver that he believed it was his turn. Police were told the pickup driver told Higgs he would push him if need be, and then the truck struck Higgs’s SUV on the right front fender before starting to drive away.

Police said Higgs retrieved his handgun and pointed it at the pickup driver, telling him to stay put until authorities arrived. The pickup driver left anyway, the booking sheet states.

Higgs was arrested and taken to the Laramie County Detention Center.
