CHEYENNE, Wyo. — On Aug. 27, a man was arrested after an altercation with police in the Albertsons parking lot on East Pershing Boulevard. Ronald Conrad Benzel, 61, was taken into custody on charges of simple assault on a peace officer, interference and littering.
At 5:58 p.m., Officer Muzquiz responded to a verbal disturbance reported near Luther Place and Charles Street. Upon arrival, she found Officer Bolkovatz restraining Benzel, who was on the ground and actively resisting arrest, according to police booking sheets.
Officer Bolkovatz reported that Benzel had discarded a piece of cardboard on the ground and appeared intoxicated. When ordered to comply, Benzel refused, becoming belligerent and combative. Benzel pulled away from the officer, pushed against her, bit her arm and attempted to strike her.
Officers placed Benzel in a WRAP restraint device and called for medical clearance before taking him to the Laramie County Jail.
