CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Cheyenne, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Cheyenne Police Department, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office and the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Names for misdemeanor citations have been removed.
Assault, US 85, Aug. 28, WHP
The Wyoming Highway Patrol is charging a 34-year-old Rapid City, South Dakota, man with misdemeanor assault after responding to an assault report near mile marker 55 at 6:20 p.m.
The trooper was told the man grabbed a woman by her hair and threw her to the ground near a damaged Jeep. The trooper noted the man appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
When the trooper asked him about what had happened, the man tried questioning the trooper, a booking sheet states. He was handcuffed and detained in the trooper’s patrol car. There, he told the trooper he wanted his money card back from his girlfriend but she wouldn’t give it back, the document states.
Another woman at the scene told the trooper she saw the man throw the woman to the ground while the woman was waiving her arms for help. Another witness described the altercation similarly.
The trooper took the man to the Laramie County Detention Center.
Disturbing the Peace, East Lincolnway, Aug. 28, CPD
Police are charging a transient Cheyenne man with disturbing the peace, public intoxication and interfering/obstructing after being called to a report of a drunk man causing a disturbance at around 7:12 p.m. on the 1900 block of East Lincolnway.
An arriving officer made contact with a man walking out of his motel room and yelling, as well as the motel’s manager. The officer noticed signs of inebriation, including bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and the odor of alcohol on the man’s breath. The man said he had drank a “pint of vodka.”
The manager said the man was bothering other guests by threatening and yelling at them, saying they needed to buy him a beer.
The man was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for jail clearance. While there, he refused to exit the patrol car, prompting officers to remove him. After he was cleared, he was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center, a booking sheet states.
