CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A Cheyenne man who caused a three-hour standoff on a railroad bridge last week had his initial court appearance on Sept. 16 in Laramie County Circuit Court. Judge Thomas Lee set Ronald Stringer’s bail at $3,000 cash during the hearing.

Stringer, 47, was arrested on Sept. 13 after allegedly throwing objects at vehicles near West Lincolnway and Westland Road and climbing onto a Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad bridge. The incident prompted a significant police response and disrupted both traffic and train operations for hours.

The affidavit states that Stringer refused to come down from the bridge, claiming that he would stop the trains and that the situation would make international news. Police crisis negotiators were called in, but Stringer remained on the bridge for three and a half hours before officers cleared the area, allowing him to descend.

Stringer faces multiple charges, including terroristic threats, criminal trespass, property destruction under $1,000 and interference with a peace officer. During the court appearance, Judge Lee reviewed these charges before setting the bail.

Stringer is scheduled to return to court on Sept. 23 for a preliminary hearing.
