CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Cheyenne, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Cheyenne Police Department, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office and the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Names for misdemeanor citations have been removed.
Possession/use of a controlled substance, Holliday Park, Sept. 14, CPD
Around 3:10 p.m., Cheyenne police arrested a 28-year-old male at Holliday Park near the north bathrooms off 19th Street for possession of a controlled substance, public intoxication, littering and refusing to identify himself.
Officers responded to reports of a man throwing items and yelling near the park’s bathrooms. Upon arrival, police found the man in his underwear, surrounded by trash, and observed a suspected meth pipe. The suspect was cited and taken to jail.
Possession of methamphetamine, mile marker 3 on WYO 212, Sept. 13, LCSO
Around 3:06 a.m., Laramie County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a 32-year-old female during a traffic stop near mile marker 3 on WYO 212. The woman was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, interference with a peace officer and attempting to bring a controlled substance into jail.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies found methamphetamine and marijuana, and additional methamphetamine was discovered after the suspect was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center. The other occupants of the vehicle were released.
Public intoxication, Nationway, Sept. 15, CPD
Around 2:40 a.m., Cheyenne police arrested a 27-year-old male near a bar on Nationway for public intoxication and fighting. Officers responded to reports of a bar fight and found the man being restrained by security after he allegedly grabbed a motorcycle helmet and began swinging it at security personnel.
The suspect, showing signs of intoxication, admitted to being drunk. He was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center and booked into jail.
DUI while under 21, Lincolnway, Sept. 14, CPD
Around 4:28 a.m., Cheyenne police arrested a 19-year-old male near a motel on East Lincolnway for DUI while under 21 and interference with a peace officer. Officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle idling in an alley and found the driver passed out in the truck.
After several minutes of failed attempts to wake the suspect, he woke up and drove toward officers, ignoring commands to stop. Police broke the vehicle window to remove the driver. He was taken to CRMC for a blood test and then booked into the Laramie County Detention Center.
DUI, East 10th Street, Sept. 16, CPD
Around 7:34 p.m., Cheyenne police arrested a 54-year-old male near East 10th Street for DUI, resisting arrest and other charges. Officers responded to a physical disturbance after the suspect allegedly pulled up to a residence and began shouting threats and racial slurs at a woman.
When police arrived, the man refused multiple commands to exit his vehicle and turn off the ignition. Officers had to remove the keys and assist him out of the vehicle. He was unsteady and had a strong odor of alcohol. A search revealed two half-empty whiskey bottles, one in his pocket and another in plain view inside the vehicle.
The suspect resisted arrest, pulling away from officers before being subdued. After his blood alcohol content was tested at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, he was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center and booked on charges of DUI (third offense in 10 years), interference, resisting arrest, open container and fighting.
DUI, WYO 219, Sept. 17, WHP
Around 12:05 p.m., the Wyoming Highway Patrol arrested a 50-year-old female near mile marker 2.5 on WYO 219 for DUI. The arrest followed a multi-vehicle crash caused by the suspect’s erratic braking and turning into a driveway. Witnesses reported strange behavior from the woman, and a firefighter on scene confirmed her driving contributed to the crash.
Upon arrival, Trooper Haller noted the suspect’s glossy eyes and delayed speech, along with the smell of alcohol. The suspect admitted to drinking vodka the previous night and taking Trazadone. After field sobriety tests indicated impairment, the woman was arrested for DUI and taken for a blood draw before being booked at the Laramie County Detention Center.
