CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Cheyenne, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Cheyenne Police Department, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office and the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Names for misdemeanor citations have been removed.
Drug Possession, Terry Ranch Road, Sept. 18, CPD
Danel Akio Moriyama, 43, of Cheyenne, is facing felony counts of sale/delivery of methamphetamine and possession of a schedule II controlled substance, plus misdemeanor counts of failure to maintain a lane and careless driving after a traffic stop on Terry Ranch Road at South Greeley Highway on Wednesday.
A booking sheet states an officer pulled Moriyama’s truck over for speeding and failing to maintain a lane. During the traffic stop, a K-9 was deployed for a free-air sniff. It indicated to the odor of a controlled substance.
Police said they found about 450 grams of suspected methamphetamine and about 220 grams of suspected fentanyl pills in the truck.
Moriyama was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center.
Probation Violation, Pacific Avenue, Sept. 18, CPD
Police arrested a 37-year-old Cheyenne man for a probation violation at around 2:48 p.m. Wednesday on the 1700 block of Pacific Avenue.
Two officers spoke with facility managers about the wanted man. As the managers were walking them to the suspect’s location, the man took off running through the steel yard. Ordered to stop, he did, a booking sheet states.
He was detained, taken into custody and taken to the Laramie County Detention Center without further incident.
