Police seek information on gunfire, hit-and-run incident near Sun Valley

(Gregory Hirst, Oil City News)

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne police are investigating two possibly related incidents near the 600 block of Sun Valley Drive. On Sept. 23 at around 10:11 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire in the neighborhood. Despite a thorough search, they were unable to locate the source of the shots. No injuries were reported during the initial investigation, according to a press release by the department.

In a new development, officers were dispatched to the same area Sept. 24 for a hit-and-run incident. A dark-colored Toyota Prius sustained rear damage, and a bullet appeared to have struck the roof. Investigators believe both the gunfire and the hit-and-run are connected.

The suspect vehicle, reported to be light-colored, was last seen driving south. It may have front passenger-side damage from the incident.

Police are asking the public for help. If anyone has surveillance footage or other information, they are asked to contact Community Service Officer Schaffer at 307-633-8056. Anonymous tips can also be provided by calling 638-TIPS (638-8477) or visiting silentwitnesslaramiecounty.com.

The case remains under active investigation as authorities work to identify those responsible.
