CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Cheyenne, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Cheyenne Police Department, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office and the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Names for misdemeanor citations have been removed.

Child Endangerment through use of a Controlled Substance, Cahill Drive, Oct. 18, CPD

Two Cheyenne men were arrested Friday, each on a felony charge of endangering a child via use of a controlled substance.

At 4 p.m., Cheyenne Police’s Crime Prevention Team arrived at a residence on Cahill Drive to question a man regarding an ongoing investigation, according to a booking sheet. The owner of the residence, Dustin Ellis, also had a misdemeanor warrant out of the county and was placed under arrest.

The 40-year-old property owner allowed officers to search the residence. In the basement, law enforcement found 44-year-old Michael Carroll hiding. Ellis said he wasn’t aware Carroll was on his property. Officers saw a glass pipe with burnt residue. They also located a pipe and a small baggie of methamphetamine on Carroll’s person. Carroll said he was aware children were upstairs. Ellis was also found to have methamphetamine in his possession.

The officers placed both Carroll and Ellis under arrest for child endangerment and transported them to Laramie County Detention Center.

Criminal Trespass, Possession of Methamphetamine, Interference with a Peace Officer and Theft, Livingston Avenue, Oct. 19, CPD

A transient Cheyenne woman has been charged with several misdemeanor charges related to drug use and theft.

At 9:43 p.m. Friday, a Cheyenne officer was dispatched to the Walmart on Livingston Avenue on a report of shoplifting, per a booking sheet. Several pedestrians pointed out a woman who matched the description provided to the officer. The officer stopped the woman, who said she needed the items to survive.

The woman was previously told by Walmart not to return to the location. The officer searched the woman’s bag for other merchandise and found meth and a pipe, per the booking sheet. The officer placed the woman under arrest and transported her to jail.

DUI, Possession of a Controlled Substance, No Auto Insurance, Failure to Maintain Single Lane, Expired Registration and Broken Windshield, U.S. Highway 85, Oct. 18, LCSO

A 25-year-old Cheyenne man has been arrested on multiple driving-related charges.

A Laramie County deputy was patrolling U.S. Highway 85 near milepost 8 around 1 p.m. Friday when he spotted a moving vehicle failing to stay in its lane, according to a booking sheet. The deputy also noticed the car had a shattered windshield and thus initiated a traffic stop.

Upon making contact with the driver, the deputy noticed he had slurred speech, had watery eyes and smelled of alcohol, per the booking sheet. The driver agreed to take a field sobriety test.

The deputy also found a metal grinder and suspected marijuana in the vehicle’s cupholder. He placed the driver under arrest for DUI and for possessing a controlled substance. The 25-year-old was taken to a medical center for a blood draw then booked into the detention center.

Possession of a Controlled Substance, Defrauding Drug/Alcohol Test and Parking in an Intersection, Exit 391 Interstate 80, Oct. 19, LCSO

A county deputy arrested a 45-year-old man on five misdemeanor offenses Saturday.

While responding to a separate complaint before 6 a.m., the officer saw a car parked in the middle of an intersection at the bottom of an exit ramp. When the deputy made contact with the vehicle, he noticed the driver had slurred speech, watery eyes and poor balance.

The deputy placed the driver under arrest then searched his vehicle. He found suspected marijuana, a bottle of pills and two bottles of synthetic urine. The man was taken to Laramie County Detention Center, and he was booked into the facility following a blood draw.
