CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A stolen vehicle chase through east Cheyenne ended in an arrest Wednesday afternoon, according to police. Officers took Tony Brown, 32, into custody after a high-speed pursuit and brief foot chase.
Cheyenne police officers initially received a report of a stolen vehicle around 12:57 p.m. near the Burger King at 2345 E. Lincolnway. The car’s owner had left it running while picking up an order inside. During that brief moment, Brown allegedly entered the vehicle and drove away, officers said.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., a Cheyenne officer spotted the stolen car near East 5th Street and Morrie Avenue. Attempting a traffic stop, the officer activated his lights and siren, but Brown reportedly accelerated, refusing to yield. Officers noted Brown’s dangerous maneuvers, including frequent lane changes without signals and running red lights.
The chase concluded when Brown hit a curb, puncturing one of the car’s tires. Exiting the disabled vehicle, Brown attempted to flee on foot. Additional officers arrived quickly and caught up with him. Following commands, Brown lay on the ground and surrendered without further resistance.
Brown was booked into the Laramie County Jail on multiple charges: motor vehicle theft, fleeing, reckless driving, possession of methamphetamine and several traffic violations, including speeding and running a red light. Police also charged him with interference with a peace officer and driving without a license.
