CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne police arrested a woman on Dec. 2 after two incidents involving counterfeit cash used in Facebook Marketplace sales.

Officer Kyle Sandburg responded to 4911 King Arthur Way around 1:30 p.m. after a man reported receiving fake currency during the sale of a Nintendo Switch. Upon arrival, Officer Hunter had already detained 37-year-old Shaundrea Kay Carlson at the scene.

According to police reports, earlier that morning, another individual reported a similar theft at the same location involving counterfeit cash during the sale of Apple AirPods Pro. Officers determined Carlson was connected to both incidents.

During a search, officers found approximately $730 in counterfeit “motion picture money” on Carlson. Additional items found on her included a small bag of suspected methamphetamine, a methamphetamine pipe with residue and a pipe containing suspected marijuana residue.

Police said Carlson has a history of theft, with four municipal convictions and two county convictions for shoplifting. She was arrested and taken to the Laramie County Detention Center.

Carlson faces charges including theft — enhanced to a felony for having five or more theft convictions — possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 12.
