CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A man was arrested early Friday morning after police found him asleep in a stolen truck in Cheyenne.
Thomas Michael Nace, 43, was taken into custody on Dec. 6 at Martin Luther King Court. Officer Tretter discovered Nace inside a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado reported stolen from Denver, Colorado, according to police records.
The investigation began when the Natrona County Sheriff’s Department requested assistance locating Nace, who was reportedly experiencing suicidal thoughts. Using a cellphone ping, authorities determined he was in Cheyenne.
At around 2:26 a.m., Officer Tretter found the stolen vehicle, with Nace sleeping in the driver’s seat. A check of the vehicle identification number confirmed it matched the Denver Police Department’s report of the stolen Silverado, valued at around $52,000.
Nace was placed in handcuffs and taken to the Laramie County Detention Center without incident. He faces a felony charge of motor vehicle theft.
The vehicle’s owner in Denver reported it missing on Dec. 2.
