Judge grants probation to teen for Midtown Tavern, DT’s Liquor burglaries

Teen must undergo treatment, pay restitution after string of February break-ins

Leviathan Stillwell (Cheyenne Police Department)

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A Cheyenne teen was sentenced Thursday to two years of supervised probation for a series of burglaries at local businesses, including Midtown Tavern and DT’s Liquor, earlier this year.

Levi Stillwell, 18, pleaded guilty in May to one count of burglary as part of a plea agreement that dismissed three additional burglary charges. Judge Peter H. Froelicher sentenced Stillwell to two to four years in prison suspended for two years’ probation.

Court records show Stillwell committed four burglaries in February, targeting Midtown Tavern three times and DT’s Liquor once.

  • Midtown Tavern, Feb. 9: Stillwell broke a west-facing window with a brick and stole bottles of Titos Vodka, Crown Royal and Jim Beam, valued at around $100. The damage to the window was estimated at $1,500.
  • Midtown Tavern, Feb. 11: Stillwell shattered an east-facing window but left without taking anything after the security alarm sounded. The window damage was again valued at $1,500.
  • Midtown Tavern, Feb. 15: Stillwell used a brick to break a window, stealing bottles of Canadian Whiskey and Nikolai Vodka valued at $20. The window repair cost remained consistent at $1,500.
  • DT’s Liquor, Feb. 21: Stillwell shattered the glass door with a rock and stole two bottles of Crown Royal Whiskey worth $55.99.

Stillwell admitted to all four burglaries during a custodial interview with Detective C. Marino. He told officers he was intoxicated during each incident, describing himself as an alcoholic with a preference for whiskey.

As part of his probation, Stillwell must undergo treatment for alcohol addiction and pay restitution. Judge Froelicher also waived public defender fees but imposed $275 in court costs.

The charges carried a maximum potential sentence of 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine for each burglary charge. The court dismissed the remaining three counts during sentencing, adhering to the agreement.
