CHEYENNE, Wyo. — On Friday, Dec. 27 at around 9:35 p.m., Cheyenne police officers responded to a report of shots fired at a residence near the 1600 block of West Jefferson Road.

According to a press release from the Cheyenne Police Department, a male victim was sitting in his truck when the suspect, later identified as Demetrius Coletti, 45, of Cheyenne, drove by and fired at him. The bullet missed the victim, but the truck was struck by gunfire. No injuries were reported.

Officers secured the area, interviewed witnesses and determined that Coletti was driving a light-colored Chevrolet Tahoe. This information was broadcast over the radio, and a Laramie County Sheriff’s deputy spotted the vehicle near the intersection of College Drive and Walterscheid Boulevard.

The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but Coletti fled, accelerating to a high rate of speed. During the pursuit, Coletti drove recklessly, ran a red light and collided with another vehicle at the intersection of West Lincolnway and Central Avenue. The occupants of the other vehicle did not report serious injuries and declined medical care.

Coletti continued driving west on Lincolnway at a high rate of speed. The pursuit ended west of town when a wheel fell off his Tahoe, disabling the vehicle.

Officers arrested Coletti, and he was booked into the Laramie County Jail on charges of attempted first-degree murder, fleeing and eluding and duty to stop.
