At 8:22 a.m., Officer Sutton with the Cheyenne Police Department responded to Wyatt Drive following reports of a probation violation. During the investigation, it was discovered the man had failed to comply with the conditions of his release.
Officer Sutton confirmed the violation, arrested the man and took him to the Laramie County Detention Center without incident. The man is expected to serve three days in jail.
Motor Vehicle Theft, East Pershing Boulevard, Jan. 7, CPD
A transient Cheyenne man was arrested after stealing a utility van and driving recklessly through city streets.
At 1:09 a.m., Officer Cigich of the Cheyenne Police Department observed a white utility van near East Pershing Boulevard and noticed it failed to stop at a red light before turning onto Van Lennen Avenue.
The vehicle, which had been reported stolen earlier in the day, was being driven erratically, sliding through snowy intersections and failing to yield to emergency lights. Officer Cigich followed the van until it pulled into an apartment complex, where the driver attempted to flee on foot.
The officer apprehended the man, later identified as Gabriel Joseph Myers, and confirmed his involvement in the theft. A search of the van revealed stolen tools and damage consistent with forced entry. Myers was arrested on charges of motor vehicle theft, reckless driving and failing to stop at a red light. He was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center.
Disturbing the Peace, Lincolnway, Jan. 6, CPD
A man from Hillsdale was arrested for public intoxication and causing a significant disturbance at a local bar.
Officer Cigich of the Cheyenne Police Department responded to a bar on Lincolnway at 11:03 p.m. after staff reported a disruptive customer. Upon arrival, Officer Cigich found the man consuming alcohol and refusing to leave the premises.
Despite repeated requests to leave from both staff and law enforcement, the man continued causing a disturbance. He was arrested for disturbing the peace and public intoxication and was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center without further incident.
DUI, Hot Springs Avenue, Jan. 6, CPD
A Cheyenne man was arrested for driving under the influence after being stopped for a traffic violation, marking his third DUI within 10 years.
At 10:44 p.m., Officer Wright of the Cheyenne Police Department stopped the man near Lincolnway and Hot Springs Avenue for driving without headlights. During the traffic stop, the officer observed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and the smell of alcohol.
The man refused a preliminary breath test, and Officer Wright obtained a search warrant for a blood draw. The man was arrested and taken to the Laramie County Detention Center on DUI charges.
