Cheyenne police arrested a 40-year-old man for shoplifting as part of a targeted enforcement operation at a retail store near Dell Range Boulevard.

At 5:58 p.m., Sergeant Norris and Officer Koeppel observed two individuals enter a store empty-handed. One suspect attempted to return an unpaid item, valued at $53.94, at the customer service desk, while the second suspect concealed unpaid merchandise totaling $25.94 on his person. Both individuals exited the store without paying and were detained outside.

Officers discovered one suspect had a criminal trespass warning from the store. Both were arrested and taken to the Laramie County Detention Center, where they were booked on misdemeanor theft charges.


Shoplifting and Drug Possession, near Livingston Avenue, Jan. 21, CPD

Cheyenne police arrested a 30-year-old transient man for shoplifting, drug possession and obstructing officers during a warrant-related arrest near Livingston Avenue.

At 11:30 p.m., Officer Wright detained the suspect, who had an active warrant out of Natrona County. During the arrest, officers discovered the man had stolen merchandise valued at less than $100 and was in possession of a controlled substance.

The man initially refused to provide identification and became uncooperative, leading to additional charges of interfering with officers and disturbing the peace. He was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center on multiple charges, including the active warrant.


Failure to Appear and Trespass, near East Lincolnway, Jan. 21, CPD

Cheyenne police arrested a 62-year-old transient woman on an active warrant for failure to appear after responding to reports of a disturbance near East Lincolnway.

At 3:36 p.m., Officer Watkins was dispatched to a convenience store where staff reported a woman causing repeated disruptions. The suspect, who fled toward a nearby motel, was located in a room at the motel.

After confirming her identity and discovering an active warrant for failure to appear on a prior shoplifting charge, officers took her into custody without resistance. She was also issued trespass warnings for both locations. The woman was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center.

Further investigation revealed the man had an active trespass warning for the store. He was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center on charges of misdemeanor theft and criminal trespass.
