CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Daniel Hernandez, 26, appeared in Circuit Court on Jan. 17 for a preliminary hearing related to a burglary charge. The hearing was continued for two weeks, while his bond was reduced to $4,000 with 25% cash required for release.
Hernandez’s case centers on a Jan. 3 burglary at the Best Western on Hutchins Drive, where a Glock 19 handgun and holster were stolen from a 2019 Ford F-150 parked outside. Officers used security footage showing a man matching Hernandez’s description exiting a red and white 1962 Chevrolet Impala to connect him to the crime.
On Jan. 5, Cheyenne police officers located the vehicle at the Luxury Inn on Westland Road. Hernandez was a passenger and matched the description of the suspect seen in the footage, including his dark jacket with a light-colored liner, light-colored shoes and facial hair.
Officers also recovered additional stolen property from his vehicle, including tools and a jacket reported missing in another burglary. Further investigation revealed Hernandez provided a false name during initial contact, complicating the case.
Hernandez has been arrested and booked multiple times in January. He was first arrested on Jan. 8, then booked on a second burglary charge while in jail on Jan. 21. The following day, Jan. 22, he was booked on a warrant for theft out of Larimer County, Colorado.
If convicted of burglary, Hernandez could face up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine on each charge. He remains in custody at the Laramie County Detention Facility. His next court appearance is scheduled for late January.
