Cheyenne police cited a 21-year-old man for possession of marijuana and leaving the scene of an accident after a hit-and-run near New Bedford Drive.
At 9:45 p.m., Officer Peterson responded to a report of a vehicle collision involving a parked car. The suspect admitted to hitting the vehicle and driving down the block to his friend’s house, where he claimed to seek assistance. Witnesses stated the suspect planned to flee the scene. Upon searching the man, officers found two THC cartridges. He was taken to the detention center without incident.
DUI, near Powderhouse Road and Dell Range Boulevard, Jan. 24, CPD
Cheyenne police arrested a 47-year-old man on suspicion of DUI after responding to reports of erratic driving near Powderhouse Road and Dell Range Boulevard.
At 7:50 p.m., Officer Garcia conducted a traffic stop on a red Toyota Camry driving without headlights and swerving out of its lane. Upon contact with the driver, officers observed slurred speech, bloodshot and watery eyes and the smell of alcohol. The man failed field sobriety tests, displaying a lack of balance, missing heel-to-toe steps and struggling with the one-leg stand test.
The suspect initially agreed to a breathalyzer test but later became uncooperative, requesting to be taken to the hospital. Officers obtained a search warrant for a blood draw, which was completed at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. The man was then taken to the Laramie County Detention Center and booked on a DUI charge.
DUI and wrong-way driving, near Warren Avenue and East Lincolnway, Jan. 26, LCSO
Laramie County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 36-year-old Missouri man for DUI and driving the wrong way on a one-way street near Warren Avenue and East Lincolnway.
At 8:18 p.m., Deputy Grover observed the man driving south on Warren Avenue, a one-way street designated for northbound traffic. Upon stopping the vehicle, the deputy detected the odor of alcohol and conducted standardized field sobriety tests, which provided sufficient evidence for a DUI arrest.
The man was taken into custody and completed a breath test with a result of 0.220%. He was booked on charges of DUI and wrong-way driving.
DUI arrest, near Iron Mountain Road, Jan. 26, LCSO
Laramie County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 52-year-old Cheyenne man for driving under the influence after responding to a Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately report near Iron Mountain Road.
At 5:26 p.m., Deputy Kidd located the suspect in the driver’s seat of a black 2022 Ford passenger car. The deputy noted the odor of alcohol, slurred speech and bloodshot, watery eyes. When asked to rate his level of intoxication on a scale of 1 to 10, the man responded with “about a 5.”
The man refused standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI. He was taken into custody and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center without incident.
