CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Cheyenne, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Cheyenne Police Department, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office and the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Names for misdemeanor citations have been removed.
Criminal trespass and assault, near Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, Jan. 27, CPD
Cheyenne police arrested a 64-year-old man for criminal trespass, simple assault and interference with a peace officer after he refused to leave the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
At 11:52 a.m., Officer Watkins responded to a report that the suspect, who had been treated and released by a physician, refused to leave his hospital room despite repeated requests from CRMC security. The suspect, who was previously trespassed from the property, demanded lunch and resisted officers’ attempts to escort him out.
After being placed in handcuffs, he kicked a security guard during the transfer to a patrol vehicle. He was booked on charges of criminal trespass, simple assault and interference.
DUI arrest, near East Lincolnway, Jan. 27, LCSO
Laramie County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 36-year-old Cheyenne woman for driving under the influence after a traffic stop near East Lincolnway.
At 7:11 p.m., Deputy Kidd stopped a dark-colored Nissan Kicks for driving without headlights or taillights. Upon contact, the deputy smelled alcohol and observed signs of impairment. The driver admitted to recently visiting a friend at a local establishment. After conducting field sobriety tests, the deputy determined the driver was too impaired to operate the vehicle safely. She refused a portable breath test but later provided a breath sample at the jail, registering a blood alcohol content of 0.18%. She was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center on a DUI charge.
DUI and driving under suspension, near East 5th Street and Campstool Road, Jan. 27, CPD
Cheyenne police arrested a 27-year-old man for second-offense DUI and driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop near East 5th Street and Campstool Road.
At 1:27 a.m., Officer Cigich stopped a gold Chrysler Concorde for speeding and expired registration. Upon contact, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol. The driver admitted to consuming “a couple shots” and agreed to perform field sobriety tests but later declined to continue, stating he would fail. The suspect displayed several indicators of impairment, including swaying and failing to follow instructions during the tests.
The man consented to a breath test, which registered a blood alcohol content of 0.160%. He was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center and booked on charges of DUI and driving under suspension.
DUI and marijuana possession, near Carbon Avenue and East 19th Street, Jan. 27, CPD
Cheyenne police arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of DUI, possession of marijuana and unsafe lane changes following a traffic stop near Carbon Avenue and East 19th Street.
At 3:19 p.m., Officer Watkins observed a white Chrysler minivan making multiple rapid lane changes with minimal room between vehicles. The van crossed a solid line without signaling before coming to a stop on the 2100 block of East 19th Street after the officer activated lights and sirens.
Upon contact, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana, and the driver admitted to smoking in the vehicle earlier.
A K-9 unit alerted to the presence of marijuana, and a dispensary-labeled container with under 3 ounces of suspected marijuana was found in the van. Field sobriety tests indicated the driver was under the influence of marijuana. After a blood draw at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, the man was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center and booked on the charges.
DUI arrest, near East Pershing Boulevard, Jan. 27, CPD
Cheyenne police arrested a 30-year-old woman on suspicion of DUI after responding to a welfare check at a car wash near East Pershing Boulevard.
At 5:32 p.m., Officer Jones contacted the driver, who was seated in a gray Hyundai Santa Fe and claimed to be reporting a possible hit-and-run. Officers noted signs of intoxication, including bloodshot eyes, dilated pupils, slurred and repetitive speech, delayed responses and unsteady balance, which caused her to fall while trying to pick up her child. The woman also had a thin cut on her forehead, approximately 3 and a half inches long.
The driver refused to conduct field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI. A blood draw was performed under a search warrant at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, and she was medically cleared before being booked into the Laramie County Detention Facility on a first-offense DUI charge.
