High-speed crash, fentanyl arrest, and shoplifting among recent Cheyenne crimes

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Cheyenne, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Cheyenne Police Department, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office and the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Names for misdemeanor citations have been removed.

DUI, marijuana possession and reckless driving, near East Lincolnway, Jan. 28, CPD

Cheyenne police arrested a 29-year-old man for DUI, possession of marijuana and a controlled substance and reckless driving after a high-speed crash near East Lincolnway.

At 2:54 a.m., Officer Gordon responded to a crash where the suspect’s vehicle had struck a building. Witnesses reported the vehicle had been swerving and driving without headlights before losing control. An inventory search revealed marijuana, THC wax and MDMA in the suspect’s backpack. After being medically cleared, he was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center.


Possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine, near Etchepare Drive, Jan. 28, CPD

Cheyenne police arrested a 40-year-old woman for possession of controlled substances and attempting to bring contraband into jail after confirming an active warrant out of Albany County.

At 1:09 a.m., Officer Cigich identified the woman at a Flying J truck stop and detained her on the warrant. During booking, jail staff discovered fentanyl pills, a syringe containing methamphetamine, burnt foil and a metal smoking device on her person. She was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center on multiple charges, including possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine.


Theft, near Livingston Avenue, Jan. 28, CPD

Cheyenne police arrested a 44-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man for shoplifting after Walmart asset protection reported unpaid items.

At 5:55 p.m., Officer Tompkins responded to a report of criminal trespass at Walmart and contacted two individuals exiting the store. The suspects were taken to the asset protection office, where four unpaid items, totaling $15, were identified in their cart. Both individuals were arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center on theft charges.
